Amy King comments on the 50th anniversary of China-Japan relations

This week I spoke with Bloomberg reporter Isabel Reynolds on the state of China-Japan relations ahead of the 50th anniversary of the normalization of their bilateral relationship in 1972.

I argued that “Japan is still attempting to carve out a position in which it engages China while supporting the US-led order” but as US-China relations worsen, “Japan’s selective engagement of China has become a lot more difficult for Japan to manage”.
